We invite you to participate in the seminar day "Vee ristteed looduses" ("Water Crossroads in Nature").

The main presentation held by Ellen Wohl is in English; other presentations are in Estonian.

On June 12, from 9:30 to 15:30, the Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences of the University of Tartu, in cooperation with the Estonian Fund for Nature and the Environmental Board, will once again organise a seminar day on watercourses in the Oecologicum building (Liivi 2, Tartu). While last year the topic was "Vee teed linnas" ("Water Roads in the City"), this year the seminar day will address the topic of watercourses in a broader sense.

Various topics related to the ecology, restoration and management of watercourses will be discussed. The aim is to bring together both those working in the field and those who will be working in the future, i.e. students, and to pool knowledge. The keynote speaker will be Ellen Wohl, a geomorphologist from Colorado State University who works with natural restoration methods and will speak on the topic: "Messy Rivers are Healthy Rivers: The Role of Spatial Heterogeneity in Sustaining River Ecosystems". The exact agenda and topics of the presentations will be announced at the end of May. The event is aimed at officials, experts, scientists, consultants, engineers, nature guides, students and others who come into contact with watercourses and riparian areas in their daily work.
