Tickets for two noteworthy events of the creative program of the Creative Nature Festival are on sale

With the beginning of spring, tickets for the Linnujämm and the multimedia show "Emajõe sünd" went on sale. The concert and the performances will take place in the unique performance setting of Tartu Lodjakoda.

The Arts of Survival Creative Nature Festival is part of the main programme of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. From 5 to 15 June, the festival's programme is diverse, combining nature and creativity. The festival invites people to discover the richness of life around us, to deepen their understanding of the links between nature and culture, and to enjoy nature-inspired creativity.

The festival's creative programme includes two major events: the Linnujämm (the Bird Jam) and the mythopoetic oratorio "Emajõe sünd" ("The Birth of the Emajõgi River"). The festival's creative programme is curated by artistic director Margus Kasterpalu.

Linnujämm is an international concert on 8 June at 19:00 in Tartu Lodjakoda. The stage will bring together local and foreign musicians and poets whose debut works are inspired by birdsong, bird folklore or personal experiences with birds. With the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 in mind, the birds chosen for interpretation are the national birds: the Estonian' swallow, the English robin, the Norwegian' European dipper, the Finn whooper swan, and the Spanish Iberian Imperial Eagle. In addition, the artists will interpret the nightingale, the raven and the Estonian bird of the year, the cuckoo.

The mythopoetic oratorio "Emajõe sünd" is a multimedia performance that intertwines nature and human voices with contemporary music, nature footage, animation and stage movement. The work's protagonist is the Emajõgi River, one of the most important symbols and landmarks of South Estonia, and its folklore and history. The sound world created is based on wildlife sounds. The central narrative is a nature documentary that follows the Emajõgi River from its source to its destination - from Lake Pühajärve to Peipsi - through history and four seasons. The nature documentary will accompany animations based on Kaljo Põllu's graphic folios from "Kalivägi" and "Kodalased" collections. The work will be presented in a unique performance environment in the shipbuilding hall of the Lodjakoda on the Emajõgi River in Tartu, overlooking the river. The performances will take place from 12 to 14 June.
